SRO in the local press!

SRO Spanish coordinator happened to be interviewed about the visit of all the different delegations taking part in the project. The information, quite extensive, was published in local newspaper Diario Córdoba ( ) and this fantastic picture with the Spanish headmaster, Juan de Dios Carmona. The press article summarized three years of intensive work and cooperation.

Teachers Training in Cordoba

Our last scheduled stay in the Erasmus program was a Teacher Training/ Coordinators meeting and it took place in Corboba, Spain. All participating countries were present. There we had one more chance to learn and share our experiences, impressions and knowledge related to the project and especially about the mobility tool.

We had plenty of work to do and our coordinators were extremely helpful with all the administrative tasks that had to be done, such as reports and summaries of the different stays. What is more, we learned and cooperate one from each other because we pooled together details from the visits to the different countries and the things we did and achieved together. We learned a lot about Erasmus Project as well, because as we filled the different boxes in the Erasmus Projects webpage, we were also reflecting on the outcome of the program, what had been a success and, of course, what had not. And that provided a wider picture of the whole project.

In the picture you can see (from left to right) the Spanish headmaster, the German headmistress and the Spanish coordinator.

SRO "Azahara" Food Bank

Last Thursday Students Reaching Out shared some time at Azahara Food Bank helping to sort out the contribution made by the people from Cordoba during that week. There are usually enough volunteers to collect food at supermarkets but they need help afterwards with the classification and storage of food, and we are always welcomed. We are glad to be of use and it is always so rewarding to see how young people are concerned about others. These are some pictures from that day. I hope you enjoy them.

So many good and precious moments to remember. A year ago we visited Emmerlord in The Netherlands. Here you can see some pic of a trip to Giethoorn where we enjoyed a lot in the company of our mates and hosts.

In our last visit we had the great opportunity of visiting Reims! We had a great time working together and having fun together. We also had a great experience helping at some second hand solidarity shops and at a training and recycling centre and store. We would like to thank our French host families and colleagues for making our week at Reims unforgettable. Thank you all!

SRO in Neuburg a Donau

The SRO student exchange meeting in Neuburg started with the arrival of the students on Sunday 4th February. Some of the students had contact with their hosts via social media before the exchange, but all in all everyone quickly made friends and settled into their Bavarian host families. The ‘getting-to-know-you’ games and personal presentations on the first day helped the students to find other contacts in the group. Communication in English was a challenge but everybody tried their best and surely managed to improve their language skills.
There were lots of multinational group activities, such as creating an NGO and doing volunteer work with, for example, the Wildlife Protection Association. This group had fun making wooden nesting boxes and climbing trees to hang them up in a local forest area. Of course, there were also cultural activities. The students did a paperchase (the fastest group got a prize in the form of Neuburg school T-shirts) and also visited the famous Allianz Arena, home of Bayern München’s home team, as well as the city of Munich.
The most fun event of the week was certainly the carnival party with music and games. The students dressed up in their own-style costumes and prepared and sold finger food and treats from their home countries to raise money for UNICEF. There was even a visit by a local carnival prince and princess with their guard of honour who performed dances in their special hand-made costumes.

Yes! One more year, we spent some time lending a hand at the Food Bank in our home town. Collecting food at supermarkets from customers is just the beginning of the task, afterwards there is a lot more work to do. Sorting out the donated food bags is hard work and any help is welcome, after all is Christmas and the people in need depends on every one of us. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2018.
